Active Body Chiropractic
Emphasis on Posture

The bones and joints that make up the spinal column are designed to protect the spinal cord and nerves, collectively known as the nervous system. It makes sense that any alteration in your body's posture will have an influence into the function of the nervous system, and therefore your body's ability to function at 100%. Many of today's activities both recreational and work-related, rely on us to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Sitting all day, poor sleeping habits, slouching while sitting, etc...are minor traumas to the body and affect posture over time. Major traumas such as car accidents, falls, sports injuries, etc...also greatly affect posture. Whether the trauma is minor or major, the spinal column takes a significant amount of the abuse. The spinal column adapts to these influences by causing spinal misalignments in the joints as well as nerve irritation, muscle weakening and elongation.

These misalignments, or subluxations, cause uneven distribution of body weight as well as place uneven stress on certain joints and muscles of the spine. The affects of time will place continual stress on certain joints and not enough stress on others, therefore altering body mechanics and causing premature degeneration of joint cartilage (eventually leading to arthritis). Regular chiropractic care is an excellent way to combat the effects of these major and minor traumas, as well as assure the spinal joints are healthy and maintain optimal body mechanics.
